PeWhat's New in Brooklyn: July and August 2007
Puppet's Jazz Bar fund raiser

Abovt: Martha Redbone

Almost every night for the past two years Puppet's Jazz Bar has been showcasing live music out of a small but stylish venue on Fifth Avenue in Brooklyn.

When they had to start turning people away owners Martin Fagin and drummer Jaime Aff realized they needed more space - forty seats just weren't enough. They found a spot at 481 Fifth Avenue between Eleventh and Twelfth Streets which also has outdoor seating.

However, they need help with construction costs and to that end a fundraiser is planned Monday, July 16 at the Old Stone House on Fifth between 3rd and 4th Street. For $100 guests arrive at 8 p.m. to meet the Arturo O'Farrill Quartet - pianist O'Farrill, Aff, bassist Alex Blake and trumpeter Jim Seeley. They'll also get a t-shirt, wine, beer and food.
Those arriving at 9 p.m. will pay $50 to listen to the music - described by Fagin as eclectic with Afro-Cuban influences - and be offered wine, beer and food.

A second fundraiser is planned July 31st for the last night in the original location. For information and/or reservations call 718-499-2627, 718-687-0940 or e-mail info@puppetsjazz.com
